Purpose of the Role The Broker Relationship Consultant is responsible for managing and growing an allocated panel of brokers within a defined region. The role focuses on driving growth in Gross Written Premium (GWP), improving conversion rates, and strengthening broker retention through proactive engagement, compliance adherence, and continuous capability development.
Job description

  • Manage, retain, and grow an allocated panel of brokers within a defined region
  • Conduct regular broker visits, performance reviews, and pipeline development discussions
  • Drive achievement of monthly and annual targets including GWP, conversion, and productivity
  • Activate dormant brokers and expand existing broker portfolios through cross-sell opportunities
  • Facilitate broker onboarding, ensuring full FAIS, POPIA, and TCF compliance
  • Deliver product, system, and process training to improve broker capability and performance
  • Resolve broker queries and escalations efficiently and professionally
  • Provide accurate reporting on broker performance, trends, and growth opportunities
  • Build strong internal relationships across underwriting, claims, operations, compliance, and product teams

Minimum requirements

  • 2–3 years’ experience in the short-term insurance industry (Personal Lines and/or Commercial Lines)
  • Proven experience in broker relationship management or distribution roles
  • Strong understanding of broker/intermediary environments, ideally including binder or outsourced models (advantageous)
  • Track record of achieving sales, growth, or performance targets
  • Solid knowledge of short-term insurance products and market dynamics
  • Strong understanding of FAIS, POPIA, TCF, and COFI frameworks
  • Excellent analytical ability with strong reporting skills
  • Valid driver’s licence is essential.
